POEM OF THE WEEK
BY
EMEKA OBIANDU
The New Paul
When he has had much spirits to drink
A drink of water keeps him from the brink.
Holding on to the bottle of water for show
Passers-by know that water is a scarecrow.
How could something so harmless
Do such damage as to make Paul legless?
His slurring leaves no one in doubt
That Paul’s morning light is all but out.
Paul, bless him, he deserves heaven, if...

POEM OF THE WEEK
Marriage is a package deal,
With candy and quinine in one meal.
If the sweet you must take,
The bitter too, for the sweet's sake.
None from the other can be divorced,
Endorse one, you have both endorsed.
Your hope’s on a pretty face,
Adorable even with a grimace,
A face blessed with ready smiles,
Radiant from twenty sea miles.
Good in manners and disposition,
Aro...

Punctuality is something we all struggle with everyday. A constant race against the clock. To be aware and stay ahead as much as we know how to. We will go out of our way to make sure something gets done most of the time. When it comes to God,for some reason we stall, we procrastinate. Why is that? You would think that since it was God, we would be as prompt and punctual that we humanely knew how to. Unfortunately for many of us, acting when God instructs us to is the last thing we do. And do...

In the New Testament, there's a story about a woman who was caught in the act of adultery. The religious leaders of the time had already condemned her in their minds, and the law said that she should be stoned. Out of curiosity, they brought her to Jesus to see what He would do, and Jesus surprised them all with His response to the situation.
Instead of condemning the woman, Jesus showed love and compassion to her. In fact, He turned the whole situation around when He said...

In the Bible, when David faced Goliath, everyone around him was talking about the mountain. They were saying, "Goliath is so big. There's no way we can defeat him." Then along came a young man named David. He was only 17 years old. But somehow, he had a different perspective. When he saw Goliath, instead of saying, "He's so big. We don't have a chance," he said, "Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that he should defy the armies of the Living God?" He was saying, "Hey, wait a minute. This is...

I know a man that lost his wife over ten years ago. She was killed in an automobile accident. It was a very tragic situation. Of course, there is a normal period for grieving. That’s a part of the healing process. That’s the way God made us. But some ten years later, this man was still grieving. He let a season of mourning turn into a lifetime of mourning. He ended up a very bitter, angry man. What happened? He was holding on to the ashes. God wanted to give him beauty, but becaus...

Philippians 1:6 - And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. (ESV)
Paul encouraged the Christians in Philippi with these confident words. He had no doubt whatsoever that God would finish the good work he had begun in their lives.
So, let me extend Paul's reassuring message of support to you today: God will fulfill—He will bring to completion—the good work He started in you! What a rel...
